Sale of $250000 Shafter Utility District Bonds
Sealed proposals for the purchase of two general obligation bond issues of Shafter Public Utility District in Kern County California must be received by 9 00 P M December 16 1947 at the District office in Shafter. The Sewer Works issue is 230000 dated January 1 1948 with 5 percent maximum interest and semiannual payments. The Water issue is 20000 with 5 percent maximum interest and semiannual payments. Bids must bid par and accrued interest specify premium and rate in 1 4 of 1 percent multiples. No multiple rates per issue. Bonds sold for cash at par plus accrued interest. Navy Lowers Physical Enlistment Rules
Chief Quartermaster J N Hibbert announced relaxed enlistment rules for ages 17 to 30 at the Bakersfield Navy Recruiting Station. Color blindness no longer disqualifies applicants if they meet other physical requirements, with further relaxations cited for other disqualifications. Tuberculosis is described as communicable and not inherited.
