Inez Wright to Be Crowned Campus Queen Tonight
Inez Wright, Shafter High School's campus queen, will be crowned at the Coronation Ball in the school gym tonight at about nine. Doors open at eight, with admission 40 cents for spectators and 1.40 per couple for the ball. The royal procession features aides and attendants, a Mardi Gras theme, and music by Charles Cecil's Bakersfield orchestra.

New St Therese Catholic Church Breaks Ground in Shafter
Construction of a six acre site at Lerdo Blvd and Valley Ave in Shafter will begin in the spring. The first phase includes a chapel rectory and convent at an estimated 38000 dollars, adobe mission style with landscaping and future school expansion. Father Pat Breslin will oversee work with parishioners funding the project.

Kirschenmann Captures Grand Champion at Big Stock Show

Shafter pool project bids opened by Richland School Board
Bids were opened this month on a three-section Shafter swimming pool in Richland with bids due by December 22. Architect Ernest J.
