Final services were held for Jonah Logan Foster 73 at Flickinger Janzen Mortuary with Rev Orval Seago officiating. Born November 6 1874 in Indiana he moved to Shafter from Cordell Oklahoma ten years ago. Survived by wife Allen Ellen Foster three sons William H Foster of Los Angeles Clarence and Billy Foster of Shafter three sisters and three half brothers in Oklahoma. Buried in Shafter Cemetery.

Growers Retain Labor Camps Management Through June 1948
A new agreement leaves the Labor Camps under the Growers Group until June 30 next year with a revocable occupancy permit at a nominal rent. Jack Manweiler of the North Shafter Labor Camp reports extended management by growers under the Production and Marketing Administration. The camps, filled to capacity, were taken over when government housing support ended to prevent worker displacement. Negotiations continue on indefinite operation or outright purchase.

More Coin Phones Promised in Shafter District

Fracture In Freak Weekend Mishap
Tete Webber, 38, suffered a compound arm fracture and elbow dislocation when a truckload of baled cotton overturned on Santa Fe Avenues between Shafter and Wasco. First aid by Remington Bristow and later Dr. H C Freedman of Shafter saved his life after an ambulance from Flickinger Janzen Mortuary rushed to the scene.
