Contouring Reduces Soil and Water Loss
Logan county farmer Morgan Connor expanded his Bellefontaine farm by 1.37 acres to straighten a fence and then reshaped it into a half moon to follow contour lines. He adopted soil conservation methods from the U. S. service, improving yield, reducing runoff, and soil loss. Diversion ditches were built and six acres tree planting accompanied the efforts.
