Guilty of welfare fraud involving Kern County aid
Jean Shoemake, a 42 year old former Bakersfield resident now living in Las Vegas, was found guilty of welfare fraud. She received a sentence of one year in jail with eleven months suspended, three years of formal probation, and was ordered to pay $4,634 in restitution to the Kern County Welfare Department. She had obtained several loans while on aid, causing the overpayment.
