Shafter Historical Society weighs National Register bid and hotel plan
The Shafter Historical Society moved to apply for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places and to explore options for the Green Hotel. Art Kadel will seek another estimate on relocating the building, while donations of artifacts and mannequins were offered and accepted. Chamber debates flag for Shafter city memorial
At a small August meeting City Administrator Bill Sheldon proposed a City of Shafter Flag to fly over the flag memorial between the police station and the library. The 5 by 8 foot flag would cost about 500 for 12 and last three to four years. The design features the City Seal in blue on gold and would require replacements for the American and California flags several times yearly. Present members approved the idea and future August chamber meetings were canceled due to vacations.
