Women clubs set Kern District convention in Shafter
Nine Kern County Women's clubs will send delegates to the Kern District convention at Shafter Veterans Memorial Hall on April 14. Hostess duties are handled by Pat Bryant, Luciel Walker, Theodora Richard, and Lucy Gorsching with alternates Elma Wilson, Bea Thompson, Ann Stoller, and Jan Janzen.

Enns Family Hosts German Relatives for First Time
Mrs. Enns of Shafter welcomed relatives from Espelkamp Germany this week marking the first time guests arrived from their homeland. Peter Toews his wife Tina and their children Dietrich and Christina traveled from Espelkamp after moving from Russia in 1976. Mrs. Enns 80s sister of Shafter's Jake Bergen cooked for Richland Schools in the 1930s.
