Wittenberg Poultry and Fish Market Shafter Pioneer Store
Arnold Wittenberg opened Wittenberg Poultry & Fish Market on Central Valley Highway north of Shafter in November 1947. The store serves local retailers and wholesalers with fresh dressed fryers turkeys ducks rabbits and a wide range of ocean and freshwater fish. The plant features modern equipment including an automatic scalding tank automatic picking machine and a wholesale room under development run by Wittenberg along with Bob McClure J D Chadwick and J W Stephens.
