Olympia March 7 The senate passed Senator Sumners giant oyster land steal 28 to 9. The bill originated from Palmer who pushed the graft through two sessions. Rumors say each approving senator will receive 10 acres of oyster land valued at 1 000 to 6 000 dollars per acre if enacted.
In Olympia the senate blocked a state game warden bill amid claims it was spite driven. The measure would fund a $1200 yearly warden via license fees and ban running deer to death with hounds, a provision criticized as favoring Palmer who owns hounds. The bill was indefinitely postponed.
Olympia march 7 Falconer the fighter from Snohomish county led a drive to distribute state estate funds among banks to curb graft by Hawk er Lord. The house passed the Falconer bill but the senate killed it. A resolution demanding explanation from late Treasurer Mills was debated. a split vote allowed a tabling move, then adoption of the resolution. Lord remains active as investigators press on.

Police investigated a lodging house following a telephone tip claiming disorderly conduct by Japanese residents in a restricted district at Seventh Avenue and King Street. Officers Burkman and Crandall found only a rooming house with no such activity and the occupants refused to accept a $100 monthly fine.
