Basketball Rules Clarified on Out of Bounds and Held Balls

Officials determine out of bounds by last touch before crossing the line and award the ball to the opposing team at that point. A held ball is a judgment call when players from opposing sides both grip the ball or a guarded player withholds it. A player is out of bounds if any body part touches the boundary line or floor outside it. For non center toss ins, players assume the same relative positions as a center jump. One player must contact the middle of the back.

Reentry Rules After Foul Disqualification

The text states that a player who leaves the game may re-enter once unless disqualified by personal fouls or for other disqualifications. If a player has been disqualified or fouls out, reentry is not allowed. The rule emphasizes a single reentry opportunity after leaving the game.
