George Stahl a German born inmate and leader of Joliet penitentiary’s orchestra has earned a commutation. After serving since August 17 18 he will be released January 17 for his good conduct and musical contributions. He was incarcerated in Chicago for burglary.
Henry Sneff, employed by William H. Jenkins at Falls of Schuylkill, was attacked by an unknown Black man believed to be a thief. The assailant struck Sneff with a club, knocking him senseless. a lantern exploded as he fell, igniting the stable. Both men escaped the flames and sought aid.
High school youths allegedly removed the skeleton from the building and hoisted it on the flagpole overnight in Champaign HL. The school board will pursue an investigation and disciplinarian action to expose and punish the culprits.

E W McFarland son of the late judge and pioneer, was shot in Boone this morning by Stanhope Royster a farmer. McFarland survived initial wounds but is not expected to recover. Royster pursued after learning of his daughter's conduct and opened fire in a Keeler street saloon. Royster is in custody.
A Mis sowari dispatch reports Abyssinians renewed assaults on Makelle after a prior defeat. Italian garrison repulsed the attackers again with heavy losses. Plague in the Abyssinian camp is feared as burials lag and corpses rise in the field.

Tawinen Scott and S Weetlake were hunting in the Algonquin Park lumber region when a presumed lynx leaped from a tree, bit their arms and shoulders, and ripped at their dogs. Westlike tried to strike the animal with an axe, was bitten, and all three men eventually killed the animal after a brutal struggle.
