Dr. James P. Truluck Jr., a Lake City dentist and part time vintner, cultivates grapes on a 165 acre tract. He planted vines in 1972, harvested 1974, bottling began in 1976 and 4000 gallons were made this year for sale only in South Carolina. The venture faces red ink and warm climate limits but aims to offer a local table wine within 200 to 300 miles of Southern consumers.
