A U S Bureau of Labor Statistics survey covering 490 establishments with about 80 000 workers shows wage gains from March 1968 to March 1969. Skilled maintenance workers rose 5.9 percent, unskilled plant workers 5.0 percent, and office clerical workers 5.9 percent.
Kenneth M Ross Jr of First National Bank of Arizona reports persistent growth with gains in consumer spending and high employment. Maricopa County retail sales excluding gas and restaurants up 16.5 percent. statewide four months into 1969 show a 13.5 percent rise over 1968. Personal income up 10.4 percent from a year ago.
Southwestern Research, a Phoenix firm, completes a merger with Golden Valley Land Company. The combined assets exceed $20 million and include a planned 307 lot Paradise Valley subdivision. Golden Valley becomes an autonomous subsidiary of Southwestern Research with other newly acquired companies expanding Phoenix based operations.
UPI reports on inflation impact including rising food costs and 4.2 percent price gains in 1968. The 20 man survey notes higher prices, record borrowing, growing profits and output. Officials push for a one year extension of taxes while brakes on inflation risk a recession. Milton Friedman comments on the unusual period.

Paradise Valley resident Goodyear Aerospace director resides at 5420 Royal Palm Rd. Valley independents form Petroleum Dealers trade association with Ray Frost of Sunset Oil Co Arizona named first president.
