Bennie M. Gonzales Associates won the contract to design the first phase of the Arizona Girls School. Gov. Jack Williams announced the award as the Legislature had appropriated 1 million dollars for the project. The facility will house up to 400 juvenile delinquent girls on a 160acre site west of the Black Canyon Highway between Happy Valley and Pinnacle Peak interchanges.
