Yonkers Records No Typhoid Deaths in Two Years
Yonkers under Dr. Clarence W. Buckmaster as health commissioner holds the record of no typhoid deaths in the last two years among large Westchester cities. Buckmaster, in his eighth year, begins a new four year term and helped create a state aid laboratory with an annual budget over $15,000. Under his direction 14,500 children have been immunized against diphtheria with toxin antitoxin, nearly 2,000 under five. Yonkers seeks to reach all preschool children through expanded efforts.

Rabies cases in Westchester County rose sharply in the first half of 1928 with 38 proven dog cases, surpassing total 1927 cases. Forty eight people were exposed to rabid dogs needing anti rabies treatment as Yonkers reported 14 cases and White Plains five.

Two County Camps Will Open Monday
Westchester County Recreation Commission camps at Croton Point Harmon on Hudson start Monday July 2 for their fifth season. The parks commission added screened cabins and new athletic facilities. A new camp for mothers and small children opens in the same Croton Point Park with a nurse and two kindergarteners to care for the children.

Rugs and Apples the Latest Local Money Ruses Reported
Scarsdale police investigated two recent scams involving a short, stocky rug man and a barrel apple scheme. In one case a maid at Charles F. Nield’s home was asked to pay the balance on a rug never ordered. at Rev. Alan R. Chalmers’s house the man claimed to be delivering rugs. A separate apple swindle saw a man collect payment for apples that were described as good only on top. Police seek the suspect and advise residents to beware similar con games.

Fines Highlight Scarsdale Police Court Session
Last week's Scarsdale police court fined several residents. James Cerbone of Mount Vernon faced an unlicensed operation penalty. Walter Porter of New Rochelle was cited for speeding on the Post road and failing to stop. Santo Gigliatti of Mount Vernon paid ten dollars for reckless driving. Speeding revenue shifted ten dollars from Meyer Orl ofskey of Hartsdale road to the village treasury. An additional five dollar fine was imposed for ignoring a red light.

New Milk Code Takes Effect In New York State
The new milk code begins July 1 requiring permits for all milk sellers in Scarsdale and annual permits expiring December 31. Stores and other sellers must report all sources and may only sell Pasteurized Grade A B Certified or Raw Grade A B milk. Violations carry a $100 fine plus other penalties. The code was a major topic at New York State health authorities conference focusing on pasteurizing plants dairy inspection and cattle tuberculin testing.

Franchise Request For Steam Pipes To Scarsdale Area
H C Lorenz of Lorenz and Lorenz asked the Village Board for a franchise to lay steam and electric mains along several streets on the southwest Scarsdale corner. The plan includes a steam plant on Garth road near Scarsdale Supply Company to serve Scarsdale Manor and the business district, with rates up to 1.10 per thousand for steam and seven cents per kilowatt hour for electricity. Similar franchise requests have been filed with Eastchester and Yonkers authorities.
