Scarsdale Archers Win Honors at Deerfield Tournament
Scarsdale archers excel at the Deerfield Eastern Tournament in Massachusetts. Miss Bisbing of Smith College won the college prize. Mrs Caleb Hyatt earned 40 yard range medal and 120 yard Clout Shoot prize for women. Caleb Hyatt scored high, beating last year’s champion with four gold bulls and two red arrows. The 48th Annual National Tournament is set for Westchester Biltmore in August.

William L. Rickard was elected president of the Beech Hill Edgemont Civic Association at a meeting held at his home last week. Forty area families attended. Officers include Mildred H. Brown as vice president and Wallace H. Wolcott as secretary treasurer. Committee chairs cover general affairs roads and drainage schools publicity and membership. The group will include Beech Hill and the Edge mont section within Yonkers city limits. The association aims to protect the districts natural beauty and residential character and to work with Yonkers officials on improvements and repairs benefiting both Beech Hill Edgemont and Yonkers.

Olin and Roderick Stephens Jr Return From Bermuda Yacht Race
The Stephens brothers from Scarsdale return home after sailing in the New London to Bermuda yacht race. Olin rode on Malabar IX and Roderick on Teal, owned by Graham Bigelow. Malabar IX placed third on corrected time, Teal second in Class A. twenty four boats started.

July Qualifying at Scarsdale Golf Club

Westchester to standardize traffic codes and fund road widening
A citizens committee will work with Sheriff Underhill and county officials to standardize traffic codes. The board approved 224700 dollars as the county share for widening the Boston Post Road to 54 feet from Pelham to Pearl Street in Port Chester, with total project cost about 1300000 dollars funded by state and county aid. A Hutchinson River bridge contract was let for 27799.75 dollars to Doyle Dunning Daly Inc. John G Agar and W Everit Macy were reappointed to the County Park Commission, and Ruth Taylor was named Recreation Commissioner for five years. Playland at Rye Beach, a 3 million dollar project, is to be a major revenue producer for the county Commission, with early estimates of 250000 dollars income this year. Frank O Darling was hired as Playland director with improvements planned before the 1929 season.

The Scarsdale Police Court closed its June session with a ten dollar fine and seven suspended sentences. Seba Stiano of New Rochelle paid for failing to light an excavation on Heathcote road on June 22. Seven defendants received suspended sentences for parking errors and driving license violations.
