Parochial high school travel costs beyond eight miles are reimbursed. a Medical Catastrophe Insurance plan costing about 1400 dollars was adopted for one year. The Supt. noted vacancies and that 44 percent of staff are men, challenging old stereotypes.

New York Central Query Accepted by County Supervisors
The transit committee will probe delays breakdowns and defects in New York Central trains in the county over the last two to three years and assess maintenance spending on right of way and equipment. Bouton Memorial Planned by Legion at Scarsdale Park
Plans to honor Arthur G. Tod Bouton past commander of the New York American Legion are under way after an executive committee meeting of Scarsdale Post 52. Bouton served as a WWI Army colonel and died while highway commissioner for Scarsdale. A bronze memorial marker will be placed in Legion Memorial Park to spur other public memorials.

Malcolm A. MacIntyre of Mamaroneck Road was sworn in as Under Secretary of the Air Force at the Pentagon with Judge E. Barrett Prettyman presiding. Attending were Charles E. Scarsdale held Memorial Day ceremonies with a sunlit parade drawing over 3,000 participants and about 8,000 at Butler Field where Mayor Ralph Keating spoke and Scout competitions ruled. Troop 3 won first in drill with 9514 points. various Troops earned Harrington’s and Pearson trophies. Girl Scouts tied for first with perfect scores. Eagle Scout awards were presented to multiple scouts. Mayor Keating honored soldiers and recalled Decoration Day’s 89th anniversary and General Logan’s 1868 designation.
