Recreation Council Elects Belmont Corn as Chairman
Belmont Corn Jr of Burgess Rad was elected chairman of the Scarsdale Recreation Council at its first annual meeting. Edward McKay was chosen vice chairman and Mrs Otto J A Grassi secretary. The council adopted thanks to outgoing Chairman Karl Finsterbusch who resigned to work in England. Willard Dean and Mrs Alfred P Slaner attended from the Village Board recreation committee. Regular meetings will be open to residents and groups seeking input on recreation matters.

Republicans Aid in Work for PPR in Westchester
The Women's National Republican Club will help voters gain the new permanent registration privilege in Westchester. Mrs Stewart Alexander, president, announced the effort and Mrs Manuel Lee Robbins of Eastwoods Lane was named as one of three county members to cooperate. The Board of Elections main office is 138 Martine Ave White Plains with phased summer hours and ten free parking spaces in front of the building.

Pvt John R James Assigned to Fort Dix Training
Private John R James of Colchester Hall Apts joins L Company 3d Training Regiment at Fort Dix New Jersey for eight weeks of Infantry basic training under the 1955 Reserve Forces Act. He will then serve six months active duty before transfer to hometown duty with an Army Reserve or National Guard unit. James attended Scarsdale High School and Cornell University before enlisting on March 12, 1957.

Scarsdale Victorious In Section One Tennis Finals
Scarsdale High School captured the singles and doubles crowns in the 12th annual Section One tennis tournament at Recreation Park White Plains. Ron Picket won the singles title for the third year running defeating Hastings High’s John Honey 6 2 6 2. Schwarz and Bowman beat Ossining’s Kerr and Reilly 6 1 6 2 in doubles and share the team title with 11 points to Hastings four and Ossining three. Picket advances to Schenectady June 7 8 to defend his state title. Schwarz and Bowman also qualify. Lang and Brown reached the semi finals before defaulting.

First TV Showing of The Magnetic Tide Aids Youth in Jerusalem
