NIC Track Wins Championship In Northwest Community College League
NIC clinched the 1972 Northwest Community College League title as the Cardinal mile relay led a team effort. NIC and Blue Mountain were tied at 77 1/2 before NIC surpassed three prior winners. NEC set four conference records and tied a fifth while team members from Sandpoint contributed in multiple events. Team scores: North Idaho 83 1/2, Blue Mountain 81 1/2, Treasure Valley 50, Flathead Valley 40, Big Bend 4.

Reduction in Isabella Creek goat permits for Unit 9
The Want Ads permits in the Isabella Creek drainage are reduced from 15 last year to six this year as the remainder of Unit 9 closes. The decision reflects conservative management to protect a rare animal, with historic harvests averaging about ten goats from 15 permits. Last year eleven goats were killed: seven billys and four nannys.

Bulldogs Edge Toward State Track Meet Noting Regional Qualifiers
Sandpoint High School earned three spots for the state meet as John Andrews set a 20-6 long jump school record but placed third. Helen Walkley led SHS girls with three wins and two state records including 25.7 in the 220 and 16-11 1/4 long jump. Kathy Taylor won discus and SHS also claimed open 440 third, mile relay third, and other points as coach Pat Smith’s squad matched a 1926 boys team for high state placement.
