SHS Girls Track Team Wins District Meet at Coeur d Alene
Sandpoint High School captured the district team title with 85 points, Kellogg 68, Coeur d Alene 64, led by Helen Walkley who won three events and set state-qualifying marks. Kathy Taylor also posted a district record in discus. Ruth Oliver and others scored in multiple events as Sandpoint advances ten athletes to Twin Falls for the state meet.

Mother Dies in Illinois
Mrs. John Palmeri returns from Burbank Illinois after the death of her mother Irene Schina aged 53 on April 29 after a long illness. Survived by husband two sons in Chicago a daughter Delores at 439 Marion Sandpoint and three grandchildren. The Palmeris have lived in Sandpoint two and a half years.

Top collegiate golfers from Oregon Oregon State Washington Gonzaga Montana and Washington State will join Idaho Vandals for a two day Idaho Invitational at the University of Idaho championship course. Coach Dick Snyder expects many below par rounds on the 6810 yard par 71 layout led by Idaho’s Jeff Thomas the state amateur champion who holds the current course record of 69.
