Two C130 aircraft delivered search and rescue equipment to Kellogg Idaho near the Sunshine Mine where 50 miners are trapped. Inflatable bulkheads, battery powered carts, sound powered phones and life listening gear were among the items deployed with Air Force support from Pittsburgh's Allegheny County airport.

Hofmeister Elected Idaho Knight Deputy At Wallace Meeting
Everett Hofmeister of Sandpoint was elected State Deputy of the Knights of Columbus at the statewide convention in Wallace on April 30. He will serve a one year term as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Francis Karel, and will coordinate all Knights activities in Idaho. Other officers elected were State Secretary John Daniker Idaho Falls Treasurer James Vergobbi Kellogg Warden Dick Fuchs Twin Falls and Advocate Richard Henning Twin Falls. Additionally a revenue sharing plan endorsed by the House Ways and Means Committee would deliver Sandpoint about 39076 this year and Bonner County about 197632 for government operations with total local funds around 262187 in the county. Idaho's overall share was projected at 15400000 with 58 million to state government and 96 million to local units. the plan could come to a House vote early this month.
