Idaho Lt Governor seeks land appraisal rule
Idaho Lieutenant Governor Jack Murphy urged the Finance Appropriations Committee to back legislation requiring appraisal of all non compensated school endowment lands. A suit in U.S. District Court claims 28 million has been lost from endowment funds by placing lands in state parks without compensation. Murphy said he warned the legislature in 1969 that about 7.5 million might be owed to the endowment fund and that courts would demand fair compensation through sale or lease. The state seeks appraisal to value the grounds and arrange payment through title transfer or lease.
