Senator James Stoicheff and Representatives Marion Davidson and Don Maynard will serve on the same committees as in the first session of the 41st Legislature. Stoicheff sits on Health Education Welfare Commerce and Labor. Davidson on Appropriations and Business and Joint Senate Finance House Appropriations. Maynard on Local Government and Resources and Conservation. They invite constituent contact at the Statehouse, or urgent calls to Boise numbers with extensions for each.

Ice Closes Schweitzer and Other Idaho Areas

Ice forming on snow forces several Idaho ski areas to close per the Idaho Department of Commerce and Development. Schweitzer Basin near Sandpoint Kelly Canyon Taylor Mountain near Idaho Falls and North South Bowl near Moscow are affected by slick conditions.

Hearing Set On Illegal Farm Help

A Boise Senate committee plans public hearings on bills to make hiring illegal aliens a misdemeanor and to remove agricultural exemptions from the Workmen’s Compensation Law. Sen. William Crookham noted the proposals have far-reaching effects and urged public sessions. The commerce and labor committee considers the two measures.

Attorney Gen's Opinion on County Budget Levies

Idaho counties must set levies to raise budget revenue after surplus, with the State Tax Commission reviewing authorized levies. The budget and adopted resolution are part of county commission proceedings for tax levies. The county clerk should record budgeted amounts to be raised by the levy. The opinion affirms the constitutionality of the county budget law and its public hearing purpose.

Public comments invited on Kaniksu Forest Plan draft

Kaniksu National Forest staff circulate a review draft of the Forest Multiple Use Plan gathering public input. Priest River Welcomes New Bonner County Deputy Culpepper

Arthur James Culpepper 25 of Coeur d'Alene was sworn in as a deputy for the Bonner County Sheriff's Department assigned to Priest River. He previously worked for Lincoln County Washington and the North Idaho security police and is studying police science at NIC. He is married with two children and will move to Priest River after the school year ends while his family stays in Coeur d'Alene.
