MS Clinic Opens in East Wing of South Center Medical Center
The opening took place at 9 a.m. Tuesday Aug 23 in the east wing of the South Center Medical Building. Ken Gilmore chaired the Inland Empire Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and announced the new clinic. Cyril L. Geraghty, city councilman, attended the ceremony.

Compact spare tires aim to save space and fuel on GM cars
GM introduces compact spare tires on 1978 mid size models including Malibu Monte Carlo LeMans Grand Prix Century Century Regal and Cutlass. The spares are lighter smaller and 4 inches smaller in diameter, offering 60 psi higher pressure. Prospective benefits include easier changes and potential 1 000 to 3 000 miles of service though priced similarly.

Mandel Convicted on Mail Fraud and Racketeering
Gov. Marvin Mandel was found guilty on 17 counts of mail fraud and one count of racketeering after a 21 month corruption case. Sentencing set for Oct 7 when Mandel will leave office. Blair Lee III to serve as acting governor.
