Girl Scout Fall Ball Brings Troops to Camp Linden
Twenty seven Cadette and Senior Troops travel to Camp Linden in Livingston County for a weekend Fall Ball September 29. Five Saline Area patrols attend with Senior Troop 279 sending one patrol of eight girls and Cadet Troop 440 contributing four patrols and fifteen girls. Mrs James Kennedy, president of the Huron Valley Girl Scout Council, says many will start their year with this camping experience.

Saline Adopts Roof Construction Standard Ordinance No 250
The Saline City Council adopts Ordinance No 250 amending the building code to set minimum roof construction standards. It requires wind resistant coverings, roof decking at least 50 inches thick with exterior glue for plywood, and metal drip edges or approved flashings. Saline Jaycees District Meeting Highlights and Local Attendance
The Saline Jaycees hosted the fall district meeting on Tuesday September 19 at the Saline American Legion Post. Attendees included representatives from Bedford Milan Manchester Monroe Tecumseh Carlton Ypsilanti and Saline Jaycees with District Vice President Jack Fry introducing speakers. The program featured Walt Brown National Director Region 1 Mike Yaeger State Administrative Executive VP and Dick Robinson External Executive VP who stressed relevance in community service and drug war prisoner reform efforts. The group noted strong progress toward last year’s goals and an encouraging start to the new year, predicting continued district strength in the state. Also in Saline news the Order of the Eastern Star No 811 set October 2 for its annual meeting and election with a 6:30 pm potluck followed by a 8 pm session.
