Miss Saline crown goes to Jan Thill at Fairgrounds
Jan Thill 17 a Saline High senior and daughter of Harry Thill of Canterbury Dr was crowned Miss Saline in a Jaycees sponsored ceremony at the Fairgrounds. Thill plans to study physical education at Eastern Michigan University and cadet teach in Saline schools. She enjoys boating on Lake Erie and is dating Rick MacPhee an EMU freshman.

Harold Gage Heads Campaign Kick Off Here October 14
The Saline area United Fund budget for 1969 70 is set at 38118 and the campaign led by Harold Gage will open with a kick off dinner on October 14. Mrs Donald Leidheiser chairs the budget committee and several local agencies receive funding including Saline Library Saline Recreation and Saline Social Services. The drive supports area and non local agencies with varied allocations and increases over last year. Mrs Robert Dobson chairs the kickoff dinner and the Rev Merle Meeden leads the United Fund board.

Happy Home pony brings joy to Clinton area family
Mike Payeur and his siblings celebrate winning a four month old chestnut pony named Happy Home at Saline Fair. The boy, nearly nine, says a new pony would complete a happier home after the loss of a prior pony. The family, including mother Mrs Roger Horn, shares a love of horses with grandparents nearby.

Kindergarten Registration Surges Across Schools

Saline Education Entries Win Honors at Fair Exhibits

Millage Proposals Fall Flat in Saline County Ballot
Saline voters showed weak turnout with 246 of 1,978 registered casting ballots. The one mill justice proposal failed 189 no to 54 yes countywide 8980 no to 2978 yes. The quarter mill for future park land failed countywide 6875 no to 5052 yes with 138 no 104 yes in Saline proper.
