Civitan Club to Organize Four New Chapters
The Civitan Club plans to charter four new clubs with a Wednesday evening ceremony on October 29 at Leutheuser's Restaurant. About 100 members and guests are expected as the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti sponsoring clubs present the charter. Officers for the new club will be elected October 22 at a Masonic hall meeting.

Saline reports rise in drinking drivers and bar incidents
Police Chief Jim Levlett told the council that Saline mirrors a statewide rise in DUI cases with many offenders from out of town. He noted numerous drunk and disorderly incidents and bar fights. Through September statewide Breathalyzer tests reached 12,438, vs 13,761 for all of last year, with 10,332 above .15 BAC. Saline averages about six tests per month.

Early United Fund reports show $2400 in first week
First week results from the Saline United Fund total $2400, drawn from business and professional contributors. No reports yet from services or residential drives. the 1969 70 budget allocates $15150 for local agencies and $9000 for the Schleh building purchase. Dr. Donald Kahn spoke at kickoff on heart transplant advances funded in part by United Fund grants.

City Council approves hours restricted on street parking
An ordinance adopted Monday bans parking on city streets from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. citywide. It becomes effective only after no parking signs at all 10 city entrances are posted. Officials say the rule aids winter snow removal and summer street sweeping and the full ordinance will be published before it takes effect.
More Sidewalk Bids Sought After Rejected Bid
Monday night the council rejected the lone bid and ordered new bids for sidewalk construction in four town areas where owners have not installed walks. Officials urged direct contact with local contractors on Detroit and Spring streets Clark N Lewis and S Ann Arbor St and Willis Rd to prompt bids.

Adults Classes Open In High School Program
An adult painting class taught by Taylor Jacobsen is scheduled in the High School adult education program and others may be offered if enrollment justifies them. Industrial Arts Area Expands as New High School Rises
The Saline High School industrial arts wing takes shape with outside walls up and bearing walls in place. The three area plan includes 220 by 116 feet and two spaces totaling 100 by 46 feet to meet urgent demand for trained students. Current facilities are cramped with drafting, graphic arts, and printing equipment. the program includes drafting, agriculture, machine shop, and automotive shop, but space limits expansion and electronics and hydraulics are not offered.
