School Advisory to elect new members at annual meeting

The School Advisory Council will elect new members and officers at the annual meeting on November 1 as three-year terms expire. The 33 member panel includes representatives from city and townships, plus three PTAs, with seats awarded by population and valuation. new members will be chosen from the same areas.

Five men file for Saline city council seats

Five men Hubert Beach Jameson Ford Edward Marsh Jack Measley and Paul Sibson filed for three Saline city council seats in the November election. Marsh and Beach had previous council runs. Incumbent Hugh Keveling will not seek re election. Meis ter and Jedele also finish terms this year. Beach 44 owner of Beach Contracting Co lives at 100 W McKay St Ford 30 owns Ford Oil Co and lives at 56 Tower Dr Marsh 39 electrical engineer at Ford Motor Co Sibson 24 machinist and chamber of commerce president operates at Knollwood Ct.

Saline Jaycees launch daytime branch and gun safety training

A Saline Jaycee daytime club formed as a branch of the Saline chapter with Dan Boughton elected chairman and Joe Eisele secretary. Five attendees join the effort to attract members unable to attend evening meetings. The group will join parent projects and may sponsor its own. Separately, Saline Junior Sheriff Deputies received gun safety training at Tri-County Sportsman's League pistol range with advisor Erwin Henes and assistants.

New Explorer Post Possible in Saline Well Open to Girls

A new Explorer Post in Saline may admit girls and study at least a dozen professions with adult leaders to be recruited. Willis Hunting cited interest from Portage Trails Boy Scout Council. PTO will sponsor and aviation post already operates with Hunting as advisor. The committee seeks members ages 14 to 18 and asks adults to assist. meeting set for October 26 at Saline High School room 36. Pack meeting for Cub Pack 416 slated for October 25 at Houghton School.

United Fund Area Teams Announced for Saline Drive

The 1967 Saline area United Fund campaign kicks into high gear after a campaigners dinner. Chair Don Church targets 23724 dollars with special solicitation led by Robert Bredernitz and district captains across industry building trades hospitals and MEHA. Area coordinators include Bart Strahle y and Mrs Don Leidheiser with extensive volunteer teams in residential areas and area two and three.

City Plans Another Tree Planting Project

The city will run a fall tree planting program offering free installation on lawn extensions with owners responsible for care. Residents may also buy additional trees at cost for planting on their property. Trees are expected to be little leaf lindens six to eight feet tall. details and prices will follow, inquiries to City Hall.

Mayor George Johnson was elected vice chairman of the Washtenaw County Metropolitan Planning Commission at a meeting last Wednesday to succeed Ray Koch. William Hayes of York Township was re-elected for an eighth term as chairman.
