Dr. Carlos Salguero speaks on preventing emotional illness in children at the Saline Child Study group meeting. The event is at 178 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Jack Crabtree, 1010 Pearl, Ypsilanti.
Michigan State Fair Authority allows youth groups to show live displays. F H A members from Saline, led by Kay Bailey and Kathy Feldkamp, set up a child development lab and worked with attending children. Saline F H A also ran the main food booth at the Saline Community Fair. Initiation events for F H A began Oct 10 informal and formal initiation on Oct 12.
Chelsea High School hosts College Night on October 23 at 7 30 p m inviting students from Saline Milan Lincoln Whitmore Lake Pinckney Chelsea Dexter and Manchester plus non students. Representatives from state colleges private schools nursing schools and community colleges will be available to discuss programs and financial aid options with attendees.
Washtenaw County hosts the 4-H Bonanza Tel-a-thons with donations via WAAM and WPAG to support Michigan 4-H Foundation programs. A gala banquet October 13 features Art Linkletter, Sue Ann Langdon, and the Conti Family, followed by a public auction and flea market on October 14 at Jenison Field House.
Saline Future Farmers of America members earned their third consecutive silver rating at a Region II meeting held Sept. 19. State officers and Michigan State University staff discussed changes to the FFA in Michigan and the new national name FFA. The 1960s era officers listed include Jeff Feldkamp and Richard Sally with advisor Mr Alten Easy.
The Saline Duplicate Bridge Club now meets Monday nights at 7:30 at the Monroe Street Community Center. Winners this week were Marge Bredernitz and Lorena Scherdt.
The Saline Jaycees schedule a membership night on October 18 at 8 p.m. at the American Legion Hall on Mills Road. They seek men aged 18 to 35, with Dr. Gerald Eisemann as activity chairman.
