City Hires Ayres firm for capital improvements plan
City officials authorize Mayor Bennett and City Clerk Muir to sign a contract with Ayres Lewis Norris and May to prepare plans for a new well sewage treatment expansion and water lines. Cost estimates total 317 500 with 180 000 sought from federal aid for treatment plant expansion. Plans for plant expansion for 6000 residents must go to the State Health department by December 1 with elections for city share financing by March 1 1963. Drilling for the new well is expected to start this fall.

Macon Area Gets Dial Service Underway This Week
Construction is under way to install Direct Distance Dialing in the Macon exchange. Poles and buried cable are in place and first dial telephones will be installed next week replacing magneto crank phones. The Macon Telephone Co. has been bought by General Telephone Co. and service will switch once dial phones are active. About 22 Macon customers will use the Saline exchange, others split between Britton and Tecumseh. Some customers will be listed in their new exchanges’ directories. Those seeking dial service in December should contact Tecumseh office now.
