Punt Pass and Kick Contest Entries Open in Saline
The annual Punt Pass and Kick contest for boys 8 through 13 remains open. Applications signed by a parent are at Community Ford Sales, sponsor Ford Motor Co and Saline Jaycees. A prep clinic at 10 am Saturday at the High School athletic field precedes the event on October 11 with entries due by October 4. Chairmen Phil Hagood and Bob Tallman lead the Jaycees as Saline winners advance to the district contest.

Saline Soldier Earns Silver Star for Vietnam Valor
Army Staff Sgt. Lloyd Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis J. Lee of Saline, received the Silver Star near Cu Chi Vietnam on Aug. 25 for July 28 actions. He braved fire to reach and move a wounded driver from a stranded lead armored personnel carrier during a combat attack. Lee, a 1966 Saline High School graduate, returned home two weeks ago and has resumed civilian work.

Bank Plans TV Branch in Saline Next Year
The Saline Savings Bank will build a 30 by 30 foot TV branch on E Michigan Ave west of Leutheuser's, replacing house and barn. Construction starts this fall with two TV stations and a walk-in window to cash checks and make deposits, but loans remain unavailable. Saline joins Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti as Washtenaw County TV branch sites.
