The Brownies of Troop 442 collect more than 10 pounds of candy plus Kool Aid and other items for soldiers in Viet Nam. Six packages will be sent to specific recipients, with Christmas cards for all Saline servicemen, funded by a postage donation from Community Ford.
Cub Scouts of packs 474 and 464 will go door to door in Saline starting at 3 50 p m Wednesday November 15 to raise funds by selling candy as a fundraising project.
The Saline VFW post will meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the American Legion Hall. The new chapter remains open for charter members.
A male caller threatened a bomb at Saline High just before 8:15 am. Students were moved outside, then to buses, delaying class about 10 minutes. Police traced the call to a Milan youth and referred the case to Juvenile Court. prior threats in 1965-66 were resolved.
Albert Gall a dairy farmer and Saline Area Schools advisory council member, leads a campaign to include an agriculture classroom and lab in the new high school plans. He cites open meetings and rural representation while urging community support for vocational agriculture amid local school construction debates.
Ford Motor Co Saline plant workers were recalled to work by Tuesday after a seven week strike idled production. Nearly all workers at other company plants also recalled. Saline Local 892 UAW CIO said fewer than 20 of 1610 members failed to report.
Band director David Walter received city approval for half time fireworks at Friday’s football game. The permit requires a bond ed competent operator and a satisfactory safety showing before discharge.

Saline area reports the United Fund has reached about 34 percent of its 1967 goal, with donations totaling $8,187 of $23,724. Most contributions come from residential areas, while industry and business groups have reported less. School collections are finished and area chairmen are urged to complete calls by Friday.
Lodi Township zoning board rejected a zoning amendment for an FM radio tower and tabled a greenhouse zoning request after a crowded public hearing. Opponents fear spot zoning and loss of local control while organizers insist the greenhouse would merely be rebuilt if damaged. The FCC authorized the radio site as township and county boards review recommendations before final action.
Harold Lambarth chair of Lodi Township zoning board resigns at a Monday night meeting ending a ten year tenure. He praises the board for no undesirable development and plans a formal letter next week. The board includes Jack Steele, William Feldkamp, and Harold Drake.
The Philip Pine Club of the University of Michigan will host a guest night dinner for the Sa line Woman's Club at 6 30 p m Tuesday at St Paul United Church of Christ Reservations are due by Saturday with Mrs Charles Kern.
Past Matrons Club will initiate at a 6:30 p.m. dinner Monday at the Fireside Lounge. Desert will be served at Mrs. Sam Lambarths home. Initiation arranged by Mrs. John Thoss with contact 429-9246 by Saturday.
Saline voters chose Jack Measley Jameson Ford and Edward Marsh to fill the three two year council posts beginning January 1 Measley led with 262 votes Ford 253 and Marsh 240 Hu bert Beach and Paul Sibson received 146 and 108 votes respectively Only 22 percent of 1675 registered voters participated indicating a low turnout Measley is a Ford Motor Co supervisor and student at Cleary College Ford is a local business owner and Saline High School graduate Marsh an electrical engineer at Ford Motor Co Dearborn and a member of local planning and auxiliary police forces Expiring term members were Ormond Jedele Hugh Keveling and William Meister Sr. who did not seek re election
Saline area school advisory council elected officers at its annual meeting last Wednesday evening. President Mrs. William Crim Jr., vice president Dr. Wilbur Vander Yacht, and secretary Mrs. Richard Wanty were named, with new members Norman MacDonald, Mrs. James Hatfield, Mrs. Charles Lamberson, Dick Cole, Rev. Donald Kraushaar, and James England. Re-elected were Crim, Richard Payeur, Allan Grossman, and Mrs. Carl O'Brien. The council called for an area for agricultural studies in the new high school and set a December 6 meeting date.
A Goodwill Industries truck will visit Saline on Tuesday for a pickup. Call Mrs. Helen Koebbe at 429-9695 to arrange the donation.
City Council approves purchase of a used garbage packer from Dearborn for 1000 dollars. The eight year old unit, already here and rented previously, will serve as standby alongside Saline’s larger truck. No changes to pickup schedule unless snow or repairs slow service.
City Administrator authorized to order 27 linden trees from Mason’s Nursery at 405 dollars total or 15 dollars each. Council approved 3 250 dollars bid from McFarland Tree Service to cut down and remove dead trees.
The Washtenaw County Council of Veterans sponsors a Veterans Day Parade at 11 a.m. Saturday in Ann Arbor with 45 units including high schools veterans groups National Guard ROTC fraternal groups Girl Scouts and Junior Deputies Willam B. Lutz Post 322 American Legion and Saline High School Band. A family potluck follows at 6 p.m. at the Saline Legion post with games for children.
