Workman Injured in Ditch Cave-in at Manchester Site
Robert Trent, 41, was buried to his shoulders when an excavation side collapsed at a disposal plant project in Manchester. He sustained a broken collar bone, broken pelvis, and two broken ribs, was rescued and taken to St Joseph Mercy Hospital in satisfactory condition. He blamed himself for the cave-in and noted a protective coff in might have prevented injuries. Trent works for Union Construction Co of Manchester.

Blaze Destroys Shed on Hearst Farm
A shed measuring 18 by 20 feet at John H. Hearst farm 4800 Ellsworth Rd burned Sunday afternoon. Saline firefighters kept the fire from spreading to a nearby barn. A passerby reported the blaze. the cause remains undetermined. The shed was unused.

The Saline area United Fund drive has reached about 13 percent of its goal says drive chairman Buford Soden. So far 1680 dollars has been turned in from service clubs business and industry with residential and school contributions still pending. The target completion date for residential collections is November 15.
