Summer Recreation Schedule Planned From June to August
The seven week summer recreation program runs June 18 through August 3 with registration Saturday June 15 at Intermediate School from 9 am to 4 pm. Minimum age seven. Activities include swimming at YMCA and Wamplers Lake, girls softball, arts and crafts with daily schedules and transport details to be provided at registration. Fee is 25 cents per person.

Farm Counci Chick Bar-B-Q Scheduled for June 17

Memorial Day Parade and Service Planned by Local Legion
A parade starts at the Intermediate School at 10 a.m. on Wednesday May 30 proceeding to McKay Street Harris Michigan Avenue and the cemetery. American Legion Commander Norman Hedger announced the event with Legionnaires auxiliary members and school bands invited. Rev Donald Kraushaar will offer the invocation and benediction and Rev Edward Katinowsky will give the main address at the cemetery service.

Fun and Fumble Men’s League Organized
The Saline Fun and Fumble softball league for men enters its third year with five teams and a sixth expected. All games run 7 and 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays with rainouts moved to Wednesdays and Fridays. An $15 entry per team is due by June 5 to Thibault or Jaeger. Umpires are paid $2.50 per game, and a season-ending trophy is added.

Cancer Fund Passes Goal in Saline Drive

Saline schools may seek an operational millage vote after the county Tax Allocation Board preliminarily set Saline’s 1962 taxes at 9.58 mills, down from 10.01 last year. Superintendent Leo Jensen says 12 mills were requested, with 10 mills possible only if frame changes occur. state aid bills could add about 18,000 dollars, affecting totals as enrollments rise.
