Saline Jaycees captured first prize for originality with a Trojan Horse to Caroline from Uncle Nikki beside a White House model at the state Parade of Cities. The club also earned a project of the year award and a second for community health and safety while adopting the Junior Chamber of Commerce to Jaycees name. George Newton will be president with Herman Radloff as VP and Doug Elfring among new directors, to be installed at June banquet.

Scout Attends Dress Rehearsal for July International Round-up
Joan LaRue of Saline and 54 other Senior Scouts with the Huron Valley Girl Scout Council staged a camping skills dress rehearsal in Howell. The July International Round-up at Button Bay State Park Vermont will test self sufficiency tent setup eating table construction and multilingual patrol teamwork.

Fair Board Shapes Up Plans for Big 1962 Event
Saline Community Fair board advanced plans for the 1962 Fair to be held September 12 to 15 at the Intermediate School grounds. Booths may be rented from Don Wiedman or Lyle Phillips. New features include a pony pulling contest and possibly an All Star Little Leaguers game. Weavie and Alber Pony Farms sponsor the third annual name the pony contest.

Saline bands stage tenth Spring Concert at high school
Saline High School Concert Band and Saline Junior High Band present their tenth annual Spring Concert at Saline High School at 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets cost 75 and 50 cents at the door. Guest conductor George Bell from Wayne Memorial High School leads. Soloist Lydia Robison performs Haydn Trumpet Concerto from the State Solo and Ensemble Festival. The program includes festival pieces and works by Wagner Erickson and Ravel. A reception follows at the fairgrounds for all guests and band members.

Graduate Student Wins Eastman Newcombe Fellowship
David B. Baker of 6564 E Michigan Ave has been awarded the F. C. and Susan Eastman Newcombe Fellowship for work at the University of Michigan. The fellowship, established in 1928 by bequest of F. C. Cancer Fund Seeks $7 to Complete $1000 Goal

Saline Highs split with Manchester 8 to 1 as Don Jaeger’s baseballers avenge a prior loss. Howard Schrader and John Harvey won two firsts at Tecumseh Relays while Saline edged Roosevelt 12-11 in Ypsilanti. Chelseа beat Saline for invitational track meet supremacy as Johnson, Harvey and Schrader posted strong showings. Junior varsity edged Lincoln 3-2 before later 4-2 win.
