Saline Board Faces Millage and Dress Code Revisions
The Saline Board of Education planned a special meeting to decide operating millage for the June 8 ballot and to consider revising the high school dress code. A Friday session covered an annexation agreement with the city and Reliance Electric. Student council results showed strong support for dress code changes with mixed views on hair and facial hair and sponsor-driven rules for activities.

Saline area sees multiple injuries in week of crashes
A string of weekend and weekday traffic accidents in Saline injured several people. Dennis Sartori, 17, and passenger Sheri Blacklock, 16, were hurt when his car hit another on State Rd north of Morgan Rd. In a separate three vehicle crash on US-12 two people and a wrecker driver were injured but none hospitalized. Additional injuries involved a rollover on Willis Rd and a motorcycle mishap on Bemis Rd. One more crash near Macon Rd and the airport left Joel Orville Schafer injured.

Groundbreaking for New Reliance Plant Planned
Applied Dynamics Computer Systems Division of Reliance Electric Co announces a groundbreaking ceremony for a new 80 000 square foot plant on Maple Rd set for May 27 at 4 pm. The $1.4 million project will replace and consolidate Ann Arbor facilities with future expansion in mind. Attendees include Mayor Hugh Keveling Representative Marvin Esch and Hugh Luke of Reliance Electric.

Saline Board of Education Candidates Explain Reasons
Two more candidates join four hopefuls for the Saline four year term in the June 8 school election. Barbara Lamberson, 35, serves on the School Advisory Council and chairs membership and publicity committees. Kenneth Guenther, 34, a Saline High School graduate, runs a gravel pit and is active in the Saline Jaycees and Bethlehem United Church of Christ. The Reporter plans questions on the roles of the School Advisory Council and local education priorities for all four candidates in the June 4 issue.

Poppy Days Slated This Week In Saline
Members of the American Legion and Auxiliary of William B. Lutz Post 322 will sell red poppies in Saline on Thursday Friday and Saturday. Poppies symbolize the Legion Auxiliaries rehabilitation work with donations aiding hospitalized veterans and families. Veterans needing assistance may obtain it through the program. Poppies made by hospitalized veterans will be sold at the Ford plant Thursday and downtown Saline Friday and Saturday.
