Saline tour spotlights early American beds and local houses

Sunday tour features Saline's past with a colonial style home in Lodi Estates, Pat Deasy displaying a bed from generations ago. The James Carman House on Mooreville Road, built mid-1800s by Roswell Parsons, sits near Orrin Parsons' 1829 black walnut house now owned by Frieda Schumaier. both houses preserve travel mementos and antique items.

Saline Alumni Sponsor First Home Tour for Scholarships

The Saline High Alumni Association hosts a Sunday Home Tour of five historic houses to raise funds for the Alumni Scholarship Fund. The tour runs 1 to 5 pm with headquarters at the Saline Library and ticket sales at banks, the library, and from alumni. tickets cost 1.50 per person.

Saline weighs Michigan Ave parade path after highway denial

Saline City Council seeks to keep the Memorial Day Parade on Michigan Avenue after the State Highway Dept refused to allow use of US-12. The city will study an alternate detour and cover temporary sign costs as a state crew handles installations. A Thursday site inspection may revive the Michigan route or force a Henry Star McKay Sr. route if the denial stands. T-ball tryouts set for Saturday at Henne Field for eligible eight-year-olds.

Six Saline Boys Selected for Michigan State Boys State

Six Saline youths will travel to East Lansing on June 16 to participate in Boys State at Michigan State University. The American Legion funds five spots and the Rotary Club covers one. Picked by the Legion are Fred Beal Mike Brennan Doug Esch Gary Skinner and Stephen Steele with seven alternates listed. The program teaches government functions by simulating local state and national governance.

To Be Honored at Open House for Mrs Feldkamp

Mrs. Clarence Gladys Feldkamp, retiring after 46 years in teaching, will be honored at an Open House Sunday May 16 from 2 to 5 p m at Pleasant Lake School. She has taught at Pleasant Lake St Thomas Ellsworth Dresselhouse. The event is sponsored by Pleasant Lake School Parent Teacher Organization. A Tulip Festival Dance for singles 25 and older will be held 9 to midnight Saturday May 15 at the YM YWCA in Ann Arbor with live music.
