Four Men Seek Two Seats On Saline Area School Board
Four candidates compete for two seats on the Saline Area School Board in the June 14 election. Incumbents Hugh Austin and Emerson Haeussler seek re election along with Rev. Donald Kraushaar and Daniel Sirones. Profiles note Austin and Haeussler as Saline High School graduates and family oriented farmers with long service. Kraushaar, a former pastor now at U M and wife Doris teach music, has a long civic record. Sirones, owner of Film Central in Saline, is an art educator with degrees from Central Michigan and the U M. Happiness Fair Aims To Welcome 1200 Disabled Attendees
Saline Jaycees organize Happiness Fair on May 28 at Farm Council Grounds with support from the Teamsters Union and local businesses. Event promises rides, games, magicians, clowns, sky divers, a farm animal menagerie, and entertainment for mentally and physically handicapped residents of Washtenaw County. Saline High Band invited to international festival in Vienna
Saline High School band received an invitation to join an international festival in Vienna next summer. Feasibility depends on raising about 67 500 dollars total for 100 students, with pledges already sought from local businesses and schools. If half funds are raised locally, the group can cover the remainder. The festival attracts youth from over 50 countries with Dr. William D. Revelli as Musical Director. Saline plans to have the current horn section perform with the 1970 71 ensemble under Malcolm Danforth. Meanwhile, Saline’s Spring Arts Festival runs May 21 23 featuring the Art Industrial Music departments Dance classes and a band concert May 23 at 2 30. Admission 75 cents adults 50 cents children or 2 00 per family.
