Saline varsity baseball edged Dexter 4 3 in nine innings to keep a share of first place with South Lyon. Jack Starling and Rick Berry powered the offense with a triple and a single each, while Tom Mann earned the win in relief. Earlier Saline rallied to beat St Thomas 5 3 as Leidheiser starred on the mound.

In Saline Milan at the Saline-Milan meet on April 24 Saline lost by four points 61 to 57. Rod White won the pole vault 3 3 and Art Haeussler long jump 18 3 while Dave Blinn took the shot put 38 4. Bruce Fritts led the mile in 5 22 5 and several Saline athletes posted high placings in sprints hurdles and relays. Junior high scores favored Saline 72 32 over Dundee with Keith Smith setting two school records 107 1 in the 60 and 11 35 in the 100. Next junior high meet is May 10 vs Tecumseh.

Top hitters included Wes Gall with three hits, Bill Levett with two triples driving in three, Dave Girbach with two hits including a triple, and Glen Burkhardt with two hits.

Junior Child Study Club Installs Officers
The Junior Child Study Club installed officers at a dinner meeting with 27 members present. Mrs. James Keller was named president for a second year, alongside vice president Mrs. Gilbert Hayes and secretary Mrs. Eugene Sell. Saline hitters led a double win over Milan and Lincoln with strong at bats and pitching, as Saline scored 13 in one game and 11 in another while committing no errors. The Hornets schedule another game with Milan and a matchup in South Lyon next Tuesday.
