City to Run Own Rubbish Pick Up Service
The city will operate its garbage and rubbish collection starting around July 1 after rejecting all bids. Details are not set, but the plan is to test back yard pick up. Council tabled the restaurant ordinance until May 15 and invited County Health Engineer Joe Price to advise. The ordinance would be enforced by the Health Department as in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. The city attorney was asked to amend the farm animals prohibition to allow school farm livestock for education. A request to lease parking spaces for Gottlob Walker was denied to avoid public use and policing issues. Saline will join the Southeast Council of Governments, a regional group of over 100 units.
