Crabtree Sets July 7 Conditioning for Hornet Football

New Hornet head coach Jack Crabtree announced weight-lifting starts July 7 with about 20 seniors and limited experience. He outlined four core beliefs, stressed discipline and academic focus, and noted potential coaching staff reshuffles due to a millage defeat, while affirming varsity football will be played this fall.

Four Saline Scouts to Earn Eagle Badges on Friday

Four members of Saline Troop 416 Rick Janich Gary Morningstar Keith Girbach and James Deihey will receive Eagle Scout badges at St Andrews Church in a historic combined ceremony also tied to two other Saline Scouts Michael Maynard and Daryl Singleton. President Ford letters and local honors will feature. The event begins at 8 p.m. with a public reception following.

Pittsfield Backs Annexation for Sewer Services

The Pittsfield City Council unanimously affirmed a policy denying sewer and water service outside city limits without annexation. The resolution states benefiting property owners must become Saline citizens and pay city taxes. Continued on page 10.

Vandals Damage Curtiss Park And Houghton School Grounds

Police estimate about 20 youths damaged Curtiss Park and the baseball field behind Houghton School causing at least 2000 dollars in losses. Port a potties were removed and driven over, guardposts torn, tennis nets cut, and equipment damaged while the Recreation Commission considers future park improvements.
