New compact tractor pull features draw 200+ entries in Monroe last year. Elmer Diable of Parker Road chairs Saline event with 2:30 p.m. Saturday timing after a weigh-in at Saline Mercantile. Drivers must be at least 10. Premiums: first 15 dollars, second 12.50, third 7.50, fourth 5. entry fee 1.50.

MYI Tour To Go Behind Tron Curtain
Musical Youth International sails June 23 for a summer tour behind the Tron Curtain. The 99 member instrumental chorale will base in Brecon Wales July 8 to 15 with a concert on July 12. Readiness includes intensive rehearsals at Saline High School.

Local man dies after motorcycle collision in Jackson
David Neil Allen 25 of Jackson died in Mercy Hospital two hours after his motorcycle was struck broadside by a car driven by Catherine J Burke of Rantoul Tl. He was an instructor at Jackson Community College and survived by his wife Mary Margaret and three sons. Cremation completed with memorials to the David Neil Allen Children's Fund.

Dr Harry A Towsley becomes president succeeding August Scholle while Charles Scholle chairs. Richard Schroeter is first vice president and Russell Fairles remains treasurer with Robert Blanding as assistant treasurer. Over 500 volunteers from Michigan business industry and labor attended.

Incumbents Hugh Austin and Emerson Haeussler won four year terms in a low turnout election with 254 and 247 votes respectively, defeating Daniel Sirones who earned 111. A millage vote is planned for August after last year’s 2.5 mill approval expired.

Saline Officers Complete Riot Control Training
Four Saline Police Department officers completed a riot control course this week taught by Noel Schneider, a former Saline resident now a sergeant with Washtenaw County Sheriff Department in charge of riot training. The training used space donated by the American Legion hall in Saline.

Final Hour of the Mills House Demolished in Sa line
An elderly woman died Friday morning after a long illness as the Mills House, built in 1833 and among Sa line’s first, was torn down by a professional wrecker. Hopes to restore the historic site faded. the American Legion needs the land, and moving the house proved impossible. A dozer collapse finished the ruin, leaving only a memory.
