Christmas gift effort aids Saline families
Saline Area Social Services aided 12 needy families this year in a village effort. Volunteers including John Jaeger and his daughter Shara, Ruth Gram, Betty Siefert, Bernice Armbruster, Margie King, Cheryl Henes, and Barbara Burcham sorted, wrapped, packed, and delivered gifts. Support came from TOPS, Welcome Wagon Club, American Legion Auxiliary, several churches, Cub Pack 474, Girl Scout Troop 143, Michigan Consolidated Gas Co. union, and the high school art club and FHA.

Addie Drews of the Ann Arbor Secretary of State office says a Saline sale date for passenger car and truck license plates will be set on a Saturday in February or March. Plates also available daily in Milan at Roy Jessie’s Standard Oil building, 225 Wabash, 9 to 5 weekdays and 9 to noon Saturdays. Elders of the Presbyterian Church to be ordained and installed at 11 a.m. Sunday with a new member seminar at 8 p.m. at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Lawrence Cole.

Free Rubella Vaccination Clinics Planned at Local Schools

The 1960s public drives include a 7 AM to 3 PM breakfast at the Dug Out on Sunday January 25 led by Paul Woods with Romeo Trogu donating the restaurant. A CES card party is set for January 24 at the Masonic hall with 50 cent tickets. Boy Scout Troop 446 will sell peanuts January 17 and 24 in downtown Saline.

Bridge players held a 24 hour marathon at the Bredernitz home raising 100 for the March of Dimes. Lorena Scheldt remained undefeated with 24 hours of play and Roland Goltz posted a vast 38 180 across 280 hands. Saline High School marks International Printing Week January 11 17 1970 with theme Tomorrow's Printer in Tomorrow's World. 77 students study offset letterpress silk screen and black and white photography in four classes.
