James Hayes was elected president of the Saline Michigan Milk Producers' Association Local at the annual meeting held Thursday. George Polzin was named vice president and Albert Gall secretary treasurer. Delegates include Ernest Girbach Paul Herter Carl Seeger Leon Schaible and Lloyd Finkbeiner. Downtown lighting upgrade begins under city loan
Mercury vapor lights are to be installed throughout the downtown area as part of a business improvement plan. Detroit Edison manager Le Vedder said work will start Monday and cover new light posts except for the main corner area. The city will fund about 3000 dollars. A special arm will remain on the four corner posts to avoid traffic-light moves. Completion date not set. A new municipal parking lot behind the southeast business block is proposed.

Bob's Marathon Service Station reported a break in through a rear window Friday morning. Owner Bob Russell found the cash register opened with $50 missing from $51.43 in the drawer and a 12 gauge shotgun in a brown canvas case taken.
