Saline Sets Higher Michigan Ave Speed Limits

Saline moves to raise Michigan Avenue speed limits by 10 mph after a November 1970 study found 85 percent of drivers exceed current limits. New limits would be 45 mph from the eastern city limit to Davenport Street and 35 mph from Davenport to 750 feet west of Monroe Street, with 45 mph again to the west city limit. City officials protested the change, noting the highway through town is not under municipal control, and a council resolution urged Lingeman to reconsider.
