Open House Planned for Saline Community Center Dance Fundraiser

Saline's recently bought Community Center will host a benefit dance by the Saline Teen Club on Saturday Feb 27. Saline Tops March of Dimes Goal With $2636.04 Raised

Gail Knight, chair, lauds Saline volunteers as the 1971 March of Dimes drive surpasses its $2,500 goal with $2,636.04. Weekend events at the High School and Dugout raised funds, including a $246.03 basketball program and a $353.25 breakfast, the latter a district record. Principal Paul Thibault commends student organizers led by Steve Sheldon and Ed Aluk with many others contributing. The two events featured the Girls' Athletic Association beating the Faculty Girls 22-12 and Hornet Alums defeating the Faculty 68-66, in front of a large crowd helped by a 10-man pep band and cheerleaders. Preliminary reports allocate funds across fannister gifts, mailers, special events, and business contributions. Proceeds from the Boy Scout peanut sale are pending.

Flapjack Factory Set for Feb 20 Pancake Fundraiser

For the 12th year Saline Kiwanians stage a flapjack factory at Saline High School on Saturday February 20 from 5 30 to 7 30 p m. Adults pay 1 50 and children under 12 pay 1. The event, serving sausage applesauce and coffee or milk, aims to draw about 350 attendees to support Kiwanis service projects.

Seasonal Gym Wall Replacement Planned Next Summer

The project describes temporary work last week with a plan to remove the entire wall next summer. When the gym has less use and weather improves a new more stable structure will be installed to replace the wall.

Saline Musicians Shine at State Solo and Ensemble Meet

Saline High musicians who advanced from the Livonia district event performed at the State Solo and Ensemble Festival on March 27. First division soloists include Cindy Ferris flute Gary Jahnke bass clarinet Mark Klein Kathy Schneider alto sax Jerry Dennison tuba and ensembles led by Diane Penning Sharon Fritts Arlene Haeussler Gary Jahnke Anita Janich Linda McIntyre and more. Jerry Dennison praised for leading a brass sextet judged the standout performer with a perfect ensemble verdict.
