Saline Public Library Eyes New Home in Schleh Building

Saline Public Library votes to pursue purchase of the former Schleh convalescent home to relocate and remodel as a larger facility. United Fund board unanimously recommends the option, with a December 14 meeting for final action. The plan envisions 13 500 square feet, expanded shelving, public rest rooms, an audio visual room, a conference area, and potential space for the Saline Historical Society. Financing includes a land contract over three years, with funds from the library association and donors, while considering city and state aid, and a possible bond issue only if necessary.
