Saline Post Office will be closed on Labor Day September 7. No window service or city or rural delivery. special delivery mail will be made and reasonable arrangements for perishable articles. Holiday schedules for collections and dispatch will be observed.
Knitters and crocheters from across the nation compete in the 1964 National Wool Needlework Contest. Local judging at the Saline Fair September 9 to 12 selects six first place winners in knit and crochet categories to advance to national finals in New York later 1964.
Karl Weavie, Saline Community Fair pony department superintendent, urges exhibitors to prepare ponies for the Pony Show on September 10 at 3 pm. Entries due by September 9 noon. He advises grooming, clipping, washing with vinegar rinse, and elbow-grease brushing to boost appearance and judge appeal.
A Red Cross sponsored first aid course will be offered in Saline in September and October. Instructor Mrs Harold Armbruster will teach a two hour session weekly for five weeks. The course is free and tentatively starts mid September. Contact Mrs Armbruster at 429 7016 to enroll.
Mrs LeRoy Jedele underwent ear surgery at St Joseph hospital Monday. Mr and Mrs Glen Weber and family visited Mr and Mrs Elmer Alber and family Thursday evening. Mrs Clara Pfeifle and Ila visited Mr and Mrs Alton Gehringer Sunday evening.
