Saline area voters show little interest in September election
Saline area clerks report scant engagement with the September 1 primary. In Saline City about 1,298 voters, eight absentee ballots issued. two mayoral candidates and four for three council seats, none on the primary ballot. Township contests but overall low turnout echoed in Lodi York and Saline townships with multiple GOP races and absentee ballots.

Rev Gabler Killed in Saginaw County Crash
The Rev Theophil F. Gabler 64 former interim pastor of St Paul United Church of Christ died in a three car collision on I 75 in Saginaw County. Several others were injured and taken to a Saginaw hospital with non fatal injuries. Funeral services were held in Hinsdale Illinois.

Rock Throwing Damages Cars Endangers Baby
Young vandals damaged three cars by throwing rocks Friday night and endangered a baby in a downtown scene. A 16 year old was captured after police chased four youths. repair crews reported cut receiver cords and dented vehicles at multiple intersections. A separate motorcycle crash injured Lawrence Steiner, 16, with James Heckman, 17, also hurt but refusing treatment.

Feuerbachers Injured in Ohio Two-Car Crash
Mr and Mrs Eugene Feuerbacher and their two children were hurt in a two car collision near Oregon Ohio while en route for a south vacation. The other car turned left into them causing their vehicle to crash into a tree. They were treated at a local hospital with cuts and bruises. Mrs Feuerbacher suffered a forehead wound requiring 20 stitches.

Saline area schools will start Wednesday September 9 and hold half-day morning sessions all week for the Saline Community Fair. The calendar, approved by the Board of Education in July, aims to iron out early problems and avoid a later spring make-up.
