Saline millage vote looms for school funding

Saline Area School Board asks voters next Monday to approve two millage proposals totaling 16.78 mills to maintain current programs. If 15.78 mills fail, only 11.22 mills remain, potentially funding schools for about 65 days and prompting further election. A fourth millage would be held if defeated. Voting at Union School with machines saved time. Also report of hospital false alarm at Saline Hospital, sensor blamed. alarm replaced.

Heffington Named Saline Postmaster After Long Postal Career

Wayne Heffington is Saline’s new Postmaster, a 20 year postal veteran who spent years at the Ann Arbor office and rose from assistant to postmaster. He supervises 15 employees serving 14 000 residents, facing heavy Christmas mail and continuing efficient service. Heffington, a devoted Grey Ghost Samoyed breeder and CB radio hobbyist, also supports local Scouting. The swearing in took place Friday the 13th with local officials, family, and post office staff in attendance.
